Kärntner Straße

Kärntner Straße

the Busy shopping street is very close to our hotel

The 19th century was characterizing for the present shopping street. Only a few of the noble buildings, from that time, were not destroyed during the Second World War. In the year of 1974 the Kärntner Strasse was redesigned to a pedestrian zone and became soon one of the most important shopping streets in Vienna. The Kärntner Strasse leads straight from St. Stephens to the Opera House and offers a diversified mix of historical buildings, traditional shops and stylish flagship stores of international companies. The department store Steffl with the panoramic elevator offers a wide range of designer goods and branded cosmetic products and a fantastic view onto the pulsing life of the street. Shops as Swarovski, Benetton, Boss, the jewelers Haban, Wagner and Wempe, the “World Capital House” of Peek & Cloppenburg, and much more you'll find at the pedestrian area. If you want to help fortune along or let luck in if it knocks, the Palais Esterhazy is the place to go, with a Casino run by Casinos Austria.
